Well, I just don’t get it. Why are there so few kid-friendly movies these days? Back in my day, we had good, clean fun at the pictures. Now, it’s all explosions and talking animals, and not the good kind like that mouse used to talk, you know, the one with big ears.
I went to the picture show with my grandkids the other day, and I was just shocked. It was loud, and fast, and I couldn’t hardly follow what was going on. The little ones were scared, and I was just plain confused. This movie makes my head hurt. So many colors and boom boom sounds. Why can’t they just make movies like they used to?
You see all these new movies coming out, they all look the same. It’s all about heroes that can do magic, robots, and space, things my grandkids don’t understand, and to be honest, neither do I. They ain’t got no real stories, no real heart. Kid-friendly movies, they ain’t what they used to be, not at all. And I don’t think all those are good to kids.
I remember one movie, it was about a dog, and that dog got lost. That was a good movie. It had adventure, and it had heart. And you learned something about being loyal and brave. Now, they just throw things at ya, hoping something will stick. Make no sense, really.
And what’s with all these movies they are making for kids that ain’t really for kids? They got grown-up jokes, and scary monsters, and things that just ain’t right for little eyes. The kids movie should be made for kids, not adults. I don’t understand why they put those things in the movie. It is just bad.
Here’s what I think:
- Movies these days are too loud.
- They’re too fast, too much going on.
- They don’t teach kids nothing good.
- They got things in ’em that kids shouldn’t see.
- Not enough good stories, not like the old days.
I tried to find some good movies for my grandkids, you know, the kid-friendly movies. But it’s hard. They got one where everybody’s singing all the time, and another one where the toys are alive. They are OK. But they still ain’t like the ones I used to watch. Some of the movies are about race and diversity, those are good, I think. They teach something important. But still, most of them are just trash, not educational at all. The movie should make kids happy and teach them something.
I heard someone say they make movies like they make cookies now. All the same, just different shapes. Maybe that’s it. They just want to make money, they don’t care about making something good for kids. They don’t care about what the movie will make kids think. As long as the movie makes money, they will make it, no matter how bad it is.
And some folks say kids are different now. They say kids want all that noise and those explosions. But I don’t believe it. Kids are kids. They want a good story, just like we did. They want to laugh, they want to cry, they want to learn something. But the movie these days just makes them more stupid, I think. I don’t think all these new movies are good for kids’ brains.
I remember some old movies, one is about some kids disappeared, and people are trying to find them. That’s a good story, keep you on the edge of your seat. But it ain’t for little kids, that’s for sure. There’s another one, about people disappearing, and the world’s all messed up. That one’s exciting, but scary too. Kids these days don’t know how to sit still and watch the movie, they always want to do something else, play with their phones. They can’t even focus.
Kid-friendly movies, they need to be about something. They need to teach kids about life, about being good, about being kind. They need to have a good story, one that you can remember. They need to make you feel something, not just give you a headache. The movie needs to have some meanings, it is just like telling a story. If the story is bad, then the movie is bad. If the story is good, the movie will be good.
I just wish they’d make more movies like they used to. Good, clean fun, with a good story, and something for kids to learn. That’s what kid-friendly movies should be. Not all this other stuff they’re making now. It’s just a shame, that’s all. A real shame. They should make more movies that are actually good for kids. Maybe one day, they will make good movies again, but I don’t know, I won’t hold my breath.
