Good mornin’ to ya! Let’s yak about them TV shows, you know, the ones like that “Star-Crossed” thingy. My grandkids, they jabber on and on about it, so I figured, why not, let’s see what all the fuss is about. And lemme tell ya, there’s a whole heap of shows out there, kinda like it, but not quite. Confusin’, ain’t it?

Now, if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ on them computery boxes, like that “Net-flicks” or “Eye-Tunes,” or that “Ah-ma-zon” place, well, you gotta know what you’re lookin’ for. It’s like findin’ a good tomato in a whole field of weeds, I tell ya.
First off, if you liked that “Schitt’s Creek” show…now, I ain’t watched it myself, too much fancy talk for my taste, but the young’uns say it’s funny. Anyways, if you liked that, you might like somethin’ else, but don’t ask me what, ’cause I got no clue. Those city folk and their shows, I swear.
- Like, there’s this “Magicians” show. My grandson, he says it’s got all the magic and whatnot, kinda like “Star-Crossed,” but with more spells and such. Sounds like a load of hogwash to me, but he seems to like it. Says it’s easy to watch, whatever that means. Probably means there ain’t too many big words.
- Then there’s this other show, “Still Star-Crossed.” Now, this one’s got “Star-Crossed” right in the name, so it gotta be similar, right? It’s one of them dress-up shows, you know, with fancy clothes and old-timey talk. My granddaughter, she loves that kinda stuff. Says it makes her feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I guess it’s like a comfy blanket, that kinda show. Makes ya feel safe, she says. Land sakes, young people these days.
She also says people watch the same stuff over and over ’cause they don’t wanna be disappointed. Like, if you know you like somethin’, you stick with it. Makes sense, I guess. I always stick with my grits in the mornin’, ain’t never steered me wrong.
- And there’s a whole bunch of others, too. Some about vampires, some about aliens, some about regular folks just doin’ regular stuff. It’s a whole world out there, I tell ya, just on that little box in the corner. Too much for my old brain, if you ask me.
But you know what I think? I think all these shows, they’re just stories. Some are happy, some are sad, some are just plain silly. But they all try to tell you somethin’, even if it’s just a bunch of made-up nonsense. Kinda like life, ain’t it?
So, if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ like “Star-Crossed,” you gotta figure out what you liked about it. Was it the romance? Was it the magic? Was it the pretty faces? Once you know that, then you can start lookin’ for somethin’ similar. It’s like lookin’ for a good chicken at the market, you gotta know what you want, otherwise you’ll end up with a scrawny old bird.
And don’t be afraid to try somethin’ new. You might just find somethin’ you like even better. Like that time I tried them fancy coffee drinks, the ones with all the whipped cream and sprinkles. Thought it was gonna be too sweet, but turned out I liked it just fine. Surprised myself, I did.

But anyways, back to them shows. There’s a lot of ’em, that’s for sure. And they’re all different, even the ones that are supposed to be similar. So, the best thing to do is just try ’em out. Watch a few episodes, see if you like ’em. And if you don’t, well, there’s always somethin’ else to watch. It’s like a never-endin’ buffet, that’s what it is.
So, go on now, find yourself a good show to watch. And don’t forget to make yourself a nice cup of tea while you’re at it. And maybe a biscuit or two. Nothin’ like a good show and a good snack, I tell ya. That’s the life, ain’t it?
And remember, don’t let them fancy city folk fool ya. They might have their big words and their complicated shows, but a good story is a good story, no matter how you tell it. Just like a good pot of beans, it don’t matter if you cook it on a fancy stove or a campfire, it’s still gonna be good eatin’.
Alright, I’ve yapped enough for one day. Go on now, and happy watchin’. And don’t stay up too late, ya hear? You need your rest.
