Well, howdy there! Let’s talk about them TV shows, the ones that start with the letter “D,” you know? Ain’t got nothin’ better to do, might as well yap about this for a spell.

First off, there’s that Dallas show. Lord, that one was a big deal back in the day. Folks couldn’t get enough of them Ewings and all their money and drama. I remember watchin’ it with the whole family, even little Timmy, though he was too young to understand half of it. It was on from, lemme see, 1978 to somethin’ like 1991. Long time, huh? That fella Larry Hagman, he played that J.R. fella, always stirrin’ up trouble. He was somethin’ else, that one.
- It had that Larry Hagman, real famous fella.
- Showed them rich folks and all their problems.
- Went on for a long, long time.
Now, there’s a bunch of other shows startin’ with “D,” but I can’t rightly remember ’em all. These days, it seems like there’s a new show every minute. My grandkids, they’re always watchin’ stuff on their phones and them fancy “streamin’” things. They got shows for everything, even shows about makin’ pies! Can you believe that?
I heard tell there’s this new app, Seen It they call it. Supposed to help you find all them shows, no matter where they are. You can even sort ’em by what kind of show it is, you know, like if it’s about cowboys or doctors or aliens or whatnot. And you can see which channel it’s on, or if it’s on that “Netflix” thingy my grandkids keep talkin’ about.
Discovering Your Next Favorite TV Show ain’t as easy as it sounds, though. Too many choices if you ask me. Back in my day, we had three channels, and that was it! You watched what was on, or you didn’t watch nothin’ at all. Now, you got thousands of shows, and it just makes my head spin. They got these “sci-fi” shows, too. That means science-fiction, if you didn’t know. Apparently, a lot of ’em start with “D” as well. I ain’t never seen none of ‘em, all that space stuff is too far-fetched for me.
Then there’s them shows about real folks, like that “An American Family” show from way back when. They say it was one of the first shows like that, showin’ what everyday life was like for a regular family. Heard there was another one kinda like it, from England I think, about some workin’ class folks. Don’t remember the name, but it was somethin’ about daily life. Shows like that, they’re kinda interestin’, shows you how other folks live.
Finding a good show these days is like findin’ a needle in a haystack, though. You gotta wade through all sorts of junk to get to the good stuff. But that’s the way it is with everything, ain’t it? Too much of everything. Too many choices, too much noise, too much everything. Makes a body want to just sit on the porch with a glass of sweet tea and forget about it all.

- Too many shows these days.
- Apps to help you find ’em, but still confusing.
- Shows about real families, shows about space, shows about everything you can think of.
So, yeah, them TV shows that start with “D”… there’s a bunch of ’em, that’s for sure. From them rich folks in Dallas to all them new shows I can’t even keep track of, it’s a whole world of entertainment out there. Just gotta find somethin’ you like, I guess. And if you can’t, well, there’s always the porch and a glass of sweet tea. That’s always a good way to pass the time.
And let me tell you, those TV shows are gettin’ mighty complicated. All them special effects and fancy storylines. Sometimes I just want a good old-fashioned western, where the good guys wear white hats and the bad guys wear black hats. You knew where you stood with them shows. Nowadays, it’s all shades of gray, and it just makes my head hurt.
Finding shows to watch is a whole different ballgame now, too. You gotta sign in with all them accounts, Google and Amazon and who knows what else. It’s a real pain in the neck, if you ask me. And then they want to track everything you watch, so they can show you more ads. Makes a body feel like they’re bein’ watched all the time. It ain’t right, I tell ya.
But I guess that’s just the way the world is now. Everything’s changin’, and you gotta change with it or get left behind. So, I’ll keep tryin’ to figure out these new shows, and maybe I’ll even find one I like. And if I don’t, well, there’s always that sweet tea waitin’ for me on the porch.
Thousands of shows at your fingertips, that’s what they say. But sometimes I think it was better when we had just a few. Made it easier to choose, and you didn’t spend half the night just lookin’ for somethin’ to watch. But I’m just an old woman, what do I know? The young folks, they seem to like it this way, so I guess it must be alright.
