Well, let me tell ya ’bout this “Modate yo Adam kun” thing. It’s somethin’ the young folks are watchin’, I hear. Sounds like a whole lotta trouble if you ask me, but what do I know? I’m just an old woman.

Seems like in this world, somethin’ bad happened, a sickness maybe, and all the men, well, they can’t… you know… They can’t get it up anymore. Except for this boy. He’s the only one who can.
- Now, that sounds like a mighty big problem to me. All them men, can’t do what men are supposed to do.
- And this boy, he’s got all the… well, you know… the power, I guess.
- But he’s gotta keep it a secret, see? ‘Cause if folks find out, they gonna use him like a lab rat, poke and prod him. Nobody wants that.
So, this boy, he goes to a special school, full of girls. Like, almost all girls. 90 percent they say! Can you imagine? All those girls and just this one boy who can, well, you get the picture. It’s called “Adam’s Sweet Agony” in English, which sounds about right. Sweet for the boy maybe, but agony for sure if he gets caught.
They call it an “anime” or a “manga.” I don’t rightly know the difference. Seems like one’s a cartoon and the other’s a book with pictures, but they both tell the same story. And this story, it’s got all sorts of things in it. School life, they call it. And other things too, things I probably shouldn’t be talkin’ about. “Ecchi” and “Harem,” they say. Sounds like a whole lot of trouble to me.
Folks are readin’ it online, on their phones and such. They got these websites and apps, “MyAnimeList” and “ManhwaLike” and “coolmic,” where they go to read this stuff. They even talk about it in forums, sharin’ their opinions and whatnot. Can you believe it? Spendin’ all their time on these things. Back in my day, we didn’t have no such things. We worked hard and went to bed early.
This “Modate yo Adam kun,” it’s popular. Lots of folks are readin’ it or watchin’ it. They give it scores and talk about how popular it is. Seems like everybody knows about it. It’s a story about a boy who is different and about a world that has changed. It’s a story about secrets and about what happens when those secrets are threatened.
Now, I don’t understand half of it, to be honest. All this talk of pandemics and impotence and special schools. It’s a different world these young folks live in. But from what I can gather, it’s a story about a boy trying to protect himself, trying to live a normal life in a world that ain’t normal no more. And it seems like there’s a lot of, well, adult stuff in it too. Makes me blush just thinkin’ about it.
So, is this “Modate yo Adam kun” any good? I can’t say for sure. It ain’t my cup of tea, that’s for certain. But the young folks seem to like it. They’re always talkin’ about it, readin’ it, watchin’ it. It’s got all sorts of things in it, things that make them excited and things that make them think. Maybe it’s got somethin’ to say about the world we live in, even if it’s all wrapped up in this strange story about a boy and a bunch of girls and a world where things ain’t workin’ right.
But one thing’s for sure, this “Modate yo Adam kun”, whatever it is, it’s got people talkin’. And that, I suppose, is somethin’.
