Alright, listen up, y’all. We’re gonna talk about them TV daddies from back in the 90s. You know, the ones on them sitcoms? Yeah, them.

First off, let’s talk about Danny Tanner from Full House. That fella, Bob Saget, he played a good dad, always cleanin’ and fussin’. The show wouldn’t be the same without him, that’s for sure. He was always on them kids about somethin’, keepin’ ’em outta trouble, or tryin’ to, anyways. Kids these days, they need a good cleanin’ and fussin’ over, just like Danny Tanner did.
Then there’s that Martin Crane from Frasier. Now, that Frasier show, they say it’s one of the best spin-offs ever made. And Martin, he was somethin’ else. A grumpy old fella, but he loved his boys, even if he didn’t always show it the way they wanted. He was always sittin’ in that chair, watchin’ his TV, just like my old man used to do. He’s one of them dads that lots of folks probably know someone like. You know a fella just kind a sits in his chair and minds his own business but if someone messes with the kids or the family oh boy look out here comes the yelling.
- He was a bit of a handful, that Martin
- But he meant well, most of the time
- And he sure did love them boys of his
Now, let’s not forget about Frank Costanza from Seinfeld. That man, he was a piece of work! Always yellin’ and screamin’, makin’ poor George cry. But he made us laugh, that’s for sure. He was always gettin’ into some kind of trouble, and George was always havin’ to bail him out. Reminds me of my cousin Billy, always gettin’ into some kinda trouble with the law and his momma always bailing him out. Frank was one of them dads that made ya laugh and scratch yer head at the same time you know.
And there’s a whole bunch of other TV daddies from back then. Some good, some bad, some just plain weird. But they all had one thing in common: they loved their families, even if they had a funny way of showin’ it. There’s all kinda ways to love a family and on tv shows back then it was interestin’ to see them all.
You had your goofy dads, your serious dads, your dads who were always tryin’ to be cool. And you had your dads who were just tryin’ to make it through the day without losin’ their minds. Being a daddy ain’t easy I can tell you that much from experience. Them TV shows showed some of it but I tell you it ain’t the whole story not by a long shot.
But no matter what kind of dad they were, they all taught us somethin’ about family. They taught us that family ain’t always perfect, but it’s always worth fightin’ for. And they taught us that even when things get tough, you can always count on your family to be there for you. That’s what a good dad does he is there for his kids and family. Not always the easy choice but it is the right choice.

So, here’s to them 90s sitcom dads. They may not have been perfect, but they were ours. And they’ll always hold a special place in our hearts. They are some of the best examples of being a parent back then and even for these new parents here today they can learn a thing or two from these old shows.
They made us laugh, they made us cry, and they made us think about what it really means to be a family. And that’s somethin’ worth rememberin’. So next time you’re flippin through channels and come across one of them old shows take a minute to watch with the youngins. They can learn a thing or two about respect and family.
And who knows, maybe you’ll even learn somethin’ new yourself. After all, even us old folks can still learn a thing or two, even from a TV show. Yep, that’s right. Never too old to learn. And them old shows got lots to teach. So go on, give ’em a watch. You might just be surprised at what you find.
That’s all I got to say about them dads. They were a hoot and holler weren’t they?
