Alright, let’s yak about them gals on the TV, the ones they call “sexy.” You know, the ones with the fancy hair and the clothes that stick to ‘em like glue. I see ‘em on that box in the corner all the time, and lemme tell ya, it gets a body thinkin’.

What’s all the fuss about, huh? Seems like everywhere you look, there’s another one of them pretty young things smilin’ and sashayin’ across the screen. They’re sellin’ everything from soap to cars, and sometimes I wonder if they’re sellin’ somethin’ else too, you know what I mean? Like they’re tellin’ us we gotta look like that to be worth somethin’. Makes a gal my age just wanna shake her head and spit.
- First off, they’re always so darn skinny. Like a beanpole, ain’t got an ounce of meat on ‘em. Back in my day, a woman with some meat on her bones was somethin’ to be proud of. It meant you were healthy and strong, able to work the land and raise a family. Now, it’s all about bein’ thin as a rail. Where’s the sense in that?
- And the clothes! Lord have mercy. Sometimes I swear they ain’t wearin’ nothin’ at all. Skirts so short you can see their… well, you know. And tops so tight you can count their ribs. It’s enough to make a preacher blush. I reckon they catch a cold wearin’ stuff like that.
Now, I ain’t sayin’ they ain’t pretty. They are. But it’s a different kind of pretty than what I’m used to. It’s a made-up pretty, a put-on pretty. Like they spent hours in front of a mirror, gettin’ every hair just right and puttin’ on all that paint on their faces. Real beauty, that’s somethin’ that comes from the inside. It’s in the way you treat people, in the way you carry yourself, in the kindness you show to others. That’s what matters, not how tight your dress is or how much makeup you got on.
I heard tell that these gals on TV, they ain’t even half of what they show you. They got folks fixin’ their hair and their clothes, makin’ sure they look perfect all the time. And then there’s all that computer magic, makin’ ‘em look younger and skinnier and smoother than a baby’s bottom. It’s all a big show, a big fake-out. Makes me wonder how those young folks are supposed to feel normal looking at that. They probably thinkin’ they have to look just like those gals to be happy or to find a husband or what not. It ain’t right. That’s just plain wrong in my book.
And what about the stories they tell on TV? Seems like most of the time, these “sexy women” are just there to look pretty and be rescued by some fella. They ain’t got much to say, and they sure ain’t got much to do. They’re just eye candy, somethin’ to look at while the men do all the important stuff. That ain’t right either. Women are just as strong and smart as men, and they deserve to have their stories told too. Stories where they are the heroes, not just the damsels in distress.
I also heard that most of the time on the TV and in movies, there ain’t as many women characters as men. It’s like they’re saying men’s stories are more important or something. And even when there are women characters, they don’t talk as much as the men. It’s a man’s world on the screen, it seems. And them sexy women, well, they are just there to make things look nice and spice up the story a little for the men.
It makes me wonder what kind of message this is sendin’ to our young folks. Are we tellin’ our girls that the only way to be successful is to be beautiful and quiet? Are we tellin’ our boys that women are just objects to be looked at and admired? I sure hope not. We need to be showin’ our kids that real beauty comes from the inside, and that women are strong and capable and deserve to be treated with respect. Not just as some pretty things to look at.

So, the next time you see one of them “sexy women” on TV, I hope you’ll think about what I said. Don’t be fooled by the fancy clothes and the perfect hair. Look a little deeper, and see the person underneath. And remember, real beauty is more than skin deep. And real strength ain’t about how you look, but how you act and how you treat folks around you.
I tell ya, this whole thing is just a bunch of hooey. Them folks in the city, they got their heads all screwed on wrong. They need to come out here to the country and get a dose of reality. That’s what they need.
