Well now, let me tell ya about them fancy Studio Ghibli Collection Blu-ray thingamajigs.
My grandkids, they keep talkin’ ’bout these “Ghibli” movies. Said it’s like cartoons but not the silly ones we used to watch. These ones, they got stories, real heart to ’em, they say. So, I figured, what the heck, let’s see what all the fuss is about.
First off, they come in these shiny blue boxes, Blu-rays they call ’em. I ain’t never seen nothin’ like it. My old TV, it took those big ol’ tapes, you remember? But these little discs, they hold a whole heap of movie. Don’t ask me how, it’s just magic I reckon.
Now, I heard tell there’s a whole bunch of these movies, a whole “collection” like they say. Must be more than twenty of ’em. Heard tell of one called “My Neighbor Totoro”. That one’s a real favorite, seems like everyone knows about that fluffy critter. Then there’s “Kiki’s Delivery Service”, somethin’ about a witch girl on a broom. And “Castle in the Sky”, sounds fancy, don’t it? Oh, and that “Howl’s Moving Castle”. My niece, she’s always gabbing about how dreamy that Howl fella is.
They even got one called “Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind”. That one’s a mouthful, ain’t it? Heard it’s one of the older ones, but still good. And then there’s somethin’ about the wind risin’, “The Wind Rises” I think it was called.

Now, these Blu-rays, they ain’t cheap. I saw one at the store, cost more than a whole chicken dinner! But folks say it’s worth it. They say you get the best picture and sound. And they got all sorts of extras, like behind-the-scenes stuff and interviews. Don’t know what that means, but sounds fancy.

Some folks are even buyin’ these big box sets, got all the movies in one place. Imagine that! Must cost a pretty penny, but I guess if you love them movies, it’s worth it. I heard tell you can find them online too, places like that Amazon place the young’uns are always talkin’ about. They even deliver it right to your door, can you believe it?
My grandkid told me that a famous fella named Hayao Miyazaki made a lot of these movies. He’s the big cheese, the one who started it all. Sounds like a smart fella, makin’ up all these stories and drawin’ all them purdy pictures. Heard tell they released some of these Blu-rays back in 2019, so they’ve been around for a spell.
I even heard some folks sayin’ these movies ain’t just for kids. They say the stories are deep, got messages and all that. Made me think maybe I should give ’em a watch myself. Might be nice to see what all the fuss is about, even if I am an old lady who prefers her soap operas.
So, if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ special, somethin’ with a bit of heart and magic, maybe these Studio Ghibli Blu-rays are just the ticket. Just be prepared to shell out some cash, ’cause quality ain’t cheap, you know? But hey, sometimes it’s worth spendin’ a little extra on somethin’ that’ll bring a smile to your face, or to your grandkid’s face at least.
And that’s all I know about them fancy Ghibli movies and their shiny blue discs. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I got a pot roast to check on.
