Alright, alright, let’s talk about this Sword Art Online Blu-ray thingy. My grandkids, they’re always yappin’ about it. Somethin’ called “Sword Art Online,” sounds like a fancy knife show to me. But no, it’s one of them cartoon shows, Japanese stuff. They call it “anime,” like it’s some kinda special word, but it’s just cartoons, ain’t it?

Anyways, this Blu-ray thing, it’s like a fancy DVD, I guess. Makes the picture all clear and shiny. These kids, they gotta have the best picture, you know? Back in my day, we had a black and white TV, and we were happy! Now they got these Blu-rays, and 4K, and whatever else they come up with next. Makes my head spin, it does.
So, this Sword Art Online show, it’s about some kids gettin’ stuck in a video game. Yeah, a game! Can you believe it? They put on these special helmets, and poof, they’re in the game. But this ain’t no Pac-Man, no sir. This game, it’s real dangerous. If you die in the game, you die in real life! Scary stuff, if you ask me. Why would anyone wanna play somethin’ like that? Kids these days, I tell ya, they like to be scared.
This Blu-ray, it’s got the whole show, I think. All them episodes. My grandson, he told me there’s like, 25 episodes in the first season. Aired way back in 2012, he says. Imagine that, 2012! Seems like just yesterday. And they made a new movie too, just last year, 2022. This Sword Art Online thing is popular, I guess. Kids keep watchin’ it, buyin’ these Blu-rays. Must be somethin’ to it.
- They say the animation is real good.
- And the story, it’s exciting, with lots of fightin’ and adventures.
- And somethin’ about love, too. Young people always like that lovey-dovey stuff.
This Blu-ray, it’s from somethin’ called A-1 Pictures. Sounds like a big company, makin’ all these cartoons. And there’s this lady director, Ayako Kono, they say she’s good. And music by Yuki Kajiura… sounds fancy. They put a lot of work into these things, I guess. More than just drawin’ pictures, that’s for sure.
I saw the box, the Sword Art Online Blu-ray box. Shiny, with lots of colors. Got the main character on the front, this kid with black hair and a sword. Looks serious, like he’s ready to fight. And on the back, there’s more pictures, all them other characters. Girls with big eyes and funny hair, and monsters, big and scary. It’s a whole world, this Sword Art Online.
My grandson, he says you can buy these Blu-rays online. On somethin’ called eBay, he says. eBay, that’s a funny name. Sounds like a place where you buy hay for horses, but no, it’s where you buy everything now. He says they got lots of deals, lots of different versions of the Sword Art Online Blu-ray. Box sets, special editions, all that jazz. It’s a whole business, this anime stuff.

So, if you’re into this Sword Art Online, this Blu-ray is probably a good thing to have. You get the whole show, clear picture, nice box. It’s a collector’s item, they say. Like them stamps my husband used to collect. Only these are cartoons, not stamps. Times change, I guess. People collect different things now.
But remember, don’t spend all your money on these things. Save some for a rainy day, like I always say. These cartoons, they’re just entertainment. Don’t let ‘em take over your life. Go outside, get some fresh air, talk to real people. That’s what matters in the end.
This Sword Art Online Blu-ray… it’s a thing, alright. A fancy thing, for these young folks. Me, I’ll stick to my soap operas. At least I know what’s going on in them!
