Well, let me tell you about this Extreme Makeover Drumm Family thing. I heard about it on the TV, you know, the one in the corner of my living room. It’s about this family, the Drumms, yeah, that’s their name. They got a real big problem with their house, you see. It’s old, falling apart, not safe for them kids.

This Ty Pennington fella, and his crew, they come in and fix it all up. Make it all new and shiny. It’s like magic, I tell ya. They build the whole thing in just a few days. Can you believe it? These folks, they work day and night, like busy little bees. They’re hammerin’ and sawin’ and paintin’, makin’ a real nice home for this Drumm family.
The Drumms, they got two boys, Donnie and Nathaniel. One of them, I think they said he’s got that autism thing. Poor little fella. Makes it hard on the family, you know. A nice house, it don’t fix everything, but it sure does help. Makes life a little bit easier, y’know? Makes it so they ain’t gotta worry about the roof leakin’ or the walls fallin’ apart.
- They got a address, yeah, somethin’ like 12881 Loop Road, somewhere out in Quincy Township.
- These folks on TV, they sent the whole family on vacation to Walt Disney World, can you imagine that? All the way to see that Mickey Mouse!
- While they’re gone, the workers go in and like a swarm of ants, tearing down and building up real fast!
Now, I heard tell of some other families, they got their houses fixed up by these TV folks, but then things went sour. Like that Higgins family, they moved out after just a few months. Said they felt used, like they was just there for the show. Even lost some of their stuff, their cars and things, they said. And that Girard family, such a sad story. Lost their daddy and a son to drownin’, after their house got burned up.
Makes you think, doesn’t it? It ain’t always sunshine and rainbows, even when you get a fancy new house. Life’s got its ups and downs, for sure. But still, it’s nice to see people helping each other out. This Drumm family, they seem like good folks. They needed a hand, and they got one. That’s somethin’ to be thankful for.
I reckon it takes a whole lot of folks to make somethin’ like this happen. Volunteers, they call ‘em. They work long hours, 12-hour shifts, they said. Tired and sweaty, I bet, but they keep on goin’. Because they know it’s important. They know they’re makin’ a difference in these folks’ lives. It warms my heart, it truly does. Shows you there’s still good in the world, even when things seem dark.
It ain’t just about the house, though. It’s about givin’ these folks a fresh start. A chance to rebuild their lives. And that’s a powerful thing, y’know? It’s about givin’ them hope. Hope for a better future. Hope that things will get better. And that, my friends, is worth more than all the bricks and wood in the world.

So, there you have it. That’s what I know about this Extreme Makeover Drumm Family show. It’s about helpin’ folks, about givin’ them a second chance. It’s about a family with struggles and kind folks who want to ease that struggle, and it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Makes you think that maybe, just maybe, the world ain’t such a bad place after all.
