Alright, let’s talk about this Mononoke Plus Ayakashi Bakeneko DVD Box [Limited Edition] thing. I don’t know much about these fancy cartoons, but my grandson, he’s crazy about ’em. Always yellin’ about “anime” and “manga” and whatnot. Sounds like a bunch of gibberish to me, but he says this here box set is a big deal, so I figured I’d try and make sense of it for folks like me.

First off, it’s a Limited Edition, which means, I guess, they didn’t make a whole heap of ’em. Like them fancy plates they sell on TV, you know? Once they’re gone, they’re gone. So, if you’re one of them collectors, you gotta snatch it up quick, I reckon.
Now, this here box set, it’s got somethin’ called Mononoke and somethin’ else called Ayakashi Bakeneko. Sounds like a mouthful, don’t it? My grandson tried explainin’ it to me, somethin’ about Japanese spirits and demons and whatnot. Said Bakeneko is like a cat monster, which sounds kinda spooky if you ask me. I ain’t too fond of cats, always scratchin’ up the furniture.
- From what I gathered, this box set ain’t just one movie or show. It’s got a bunch of discs, like six or somethin’. That’s a lot of watchin’, more than my old eyes can handle, that’s for sure.
- And they ain’t cheap, these things. My grandson was showin’ me prices online, and they was up there! But I guess if you’re a real fan, you’re willin’ to pay, right? Just like them folks who buy them fancy cars, even though a good ol’ pickup truck does just fine.
I saw some folks talkin’ about Free Worldwide Shipping. That means they’ll send it anywhere, I guess. Even out to the sticks where I live. Not that I’d want it, mind you. I’d rather watch a good Western any day. But it’s good for them folks overseas, I reckon, who want to get their hands on this here box set.
Some places are sellin’ it as a DVD box set, and some as a Blu-ray box set. Now, I ain’t got a clue what the difference is. My grandson says Blu-ray is better picture, but I can’t see the difference, myself. Looks all the same to me, just a bunch of colorful pictures movin’ around real fast.
One thing my grandson kept jabberin’ about was this Masaaki Yuasa fella. Sounds like he’s a big shot in the anime world, directed some of these here shows or somethin’. And there’s this other guy, Takahiro Sakurai, who does the voice for one of the characters, I think. My grandson gets all excited about these voice actors, but I don’t see what the fuss is about. They’re just talkin’, ain’t they?
There’s also mention of some booklet that comes with the Blu-ray version. I guess it’s got pictures and information about the show. My grandson would probably pore over that thing for hours. Me? I’d rather read the seed catalog. At least that tells you somethin’ useful, like how big them tomatoes are gonna grow.

And then there’s all this talk about ACXA-10832 and ACBA-10673. Sounds like a bunch of numbers to me, but my grandson says it’s the product code or somethin’. Helps you find the right thing when you’re buyin’ online, I suppose. Too complicated for my taste, give me a good old catalog any day.
So, if you’re lookin’ for this Mononoke Plus Ayakashi Bakeneko DVD Box [Limited Edition], you gotta be quick, it sounds like. And you gotta be willin’ to shell out some cash, too. But if it makes you happy, I guess that’s all that matters. Me, I’ll stick to my old TV shows and my garden. That’s entertainment enough for me.
Now, my grandson also mentioned that you can find this box set on websites like Solaris Japan or . He says they have all sorts of anime stuff, figurines and whatnots. And for some folks you can even get it on eBay, but he says you gotta be careful about the prices and the seller reputation there, or you might get swindled. Too much hassle if you ask me.
Anyways, that’s about all I know about this here box set. Hope it helped you some. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go water my petunias.
