Well, let me tell ya, pickin’ the best ever metal albums is like tryin’ to pick the best ear of corn in the whole darn field – everyone’s got their own taste, ya know? But if you ask me, and a lot of other folks who’ve been listenin’ to this loud music for a good long while, there’s a few that stick out like a sore thumb, in a good way, mind you.

First off, you gotta talk about that Black Sabbath fella and his “Paranoid” record. That came out way back when, and it still sounds like thunder. It’s got songs on it that even your grandma would recognize, like that “Iron Man” one. My nephew, he’s a wild one, plays it real loud in his car. Shakes the whole house, it does. But it’s good, real good. Gets your blood pumpin’, makes you wanna stomp your feet.
Then there’s them fellas in Judas Priest. They made this record called “Painkiller,” and let me tell you, it lives up to its name. The singer, he can really wail, and the guitars, they sound like buzz saws. It’s fast, it’s loud, and it makes you wanna headbang ‘til your neck hurts. I remember seein’ ‘em on that there TV once, all leather and chains. Looked like a bunch of hooligans, but boy, could they play!
And don’t forget about Megadeth. They got this one called “Rust in Peace,” and it’s somethin’ else. The guitar playin’ is real fancy, lots of fast pickin’ and stuff. My other nephew, the smart one, he says it’s real technical. I don’t know nothin’ ‘bout that, but I know it sounds good. Keeps you on your toes, that’s for sure.
- Another one that folks rave about is by a band called Dream Theater. Their “Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory” album, that’s a mouthful ain’t it? Well, it’s like a whole story, like one of them soap operas on the TV, but with guitars and drums. It’s long, but it keeps you interested, you know? Kinda like readin’ a good book, only louder.
- And if we’re talkin’ old-school, there’s this band called Coven. They had this record called “Witchcraft Destroys Minds & Reaps Souls.” Spooky name, right? Well, it’s spooky music too. Kinda creepy, kinda cool. Makes you think about things you don’t normally think about. Like witches and stuff.
- Oh, and gotta mention Metallica. They got this one, “…And Justice for All”, even my old man knew that one. He used to say it was too noisy, but I always liked it. Catchy tunes, even if you can’t always understand what they’re yellin’ about.
Now, there’s a whole bunch of other bands and albums folks could argue about. Slayer, Anthrax, all them thrash metal bands. They all made some good noise, that’s for sure. And then there’s the newer bands, the ones the kids are listenin’ to these days. I don’t know much about them, but I reckon there’s some good ones in there too. Music’s always changin’, ya know? But the good stuff, it sticks around.
So, if you’re lookin’ to get into this metal music, or if you just wanna hear some good ol’ loud tunes, those albums I mentioned are a good place to start. They’re the ones folks keep comin’ back to, year after year. They’re the best ever, if you ask me. And if you don’t like ‘em, well, that’s your problem, ain’t it? Go find your own darn music!
But seriously, give ‘em a listen. You might be surprised. Even an old lady like me can appreciate a good, loud guitar solo now and then. Keeps you feelin’ alive, ya know? Gets the blood pumpin’. And that’s what music’s all about, ain’t it?

In the end, it all comes down to what you like. But if you’re lookin’ for the best ever metal albums, those ones I mentioned, they’re a good bet. They’ve stood the test of time, and they still sound as good today as they did back when they first came out. So crank ’em up, and enjoy the noise!
