Well, now, I gotta tell ya about these two fella’s, Elvis and John Lennon. You know, them boys was real famous in their own time, and folks still talk about ‘em today. Both of ‘em had their own ways, their own style, and when they crossed paths, it wasn’t exactly what you’d call a smooth meeting. In fact, it ended kinda awkward, and both of ‘em left with a bad taste in their mouths.

Elvis and John Lennon met only once, and it wasn’t a good time. This happened back in August of 1965. Now, I don’t know much about all the fancy stuff that went on in that room, but I do know they didn’t hit it off. The Beatles was a big deal, and Elvis, well, he was the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll. But, see, when they got together, it wasn’t like a big celebration, nah. From what I heard, it was more like a set-up, somethin’ that didn’t feel right from the start.
John Lennon, he was the one who pushed for this meetin’. He wanted to see Elvis, maybe get to know him, I reckon. But when they all walked in, it was just… odd. Some folks say Elvis had his “Memphis Mafia” around him—his crew, y’know? That didn’t sit well with Ringo, one of the Beatles. He didn’t like the way they all was lookin’ at him. Paul, well, he remembered Elvis sittin’ with a bass guitar in his hands, and he liked that. But George, he was lookin’ around the room, tryin’ to figure out if anyone had some weed, and that didn’t help the vibe much either.
Now, Elvis wasn’t exactly impressed with John either. I reckon he felt like John and his gang was all too much for him. Some say Elvis even felt mocked by them boys. And I don’t blame him! Imagine bein’ the King, and here comes this young fella, actin’ all cool and full of himself. From what I heard, Elvis wasn’t too happy about the way he was treated. He was madder than a hornet and never forgot it. Every time someone mentioned John Lennon, he’d get all fiery again.
As for John, well, he didn’t come away feelin’ too great about Elvis neither. As time passed, John would talk about how Elvis let him down. See, before they met, John was a big fan of Elvis. He looked up to him, thought he was the real deal, and maybe even thought they’d get along just fine. But after that meetin’, John started sayin’ how Elvis didn’t live up to what he’d hoped. He’d built this image of Elvis in his head, and when they finally met, it didn’t match up.
In fact, there’s a story that after that day, John made a comment that stuck with a lotta people. He said something like, “Before Elvis, there was nothin’.” But even after that comment, John, like so many others, came to realize that maybe the King wasn’t all that he thought he was. And after that, their relationship just… fizzled out.
But let’s not forget, Elvis and John both had a big impact on each other. Whether they liked each other or not, the truth is that both of ‘em influenced a whole lotta folks. John Lennon was a fan of Elvis, and Elvis was a trailblazer in rock ‘n’ roll. John mighta thought he let him down later on, but he still carried that early influence with him in his music. And it’s the same for Elvis—he might’ve been a little upset with the Beatles, but their music was all part of the same big wave that changed the world of music.

And I’ll tell ya somethin’ else, there’s somethin’ funny about John Lennon and cats. Yup, John Lennon was a big ol’ cat lover. Now, that’s a twist, ain’t it? People don’t usually talk about that part of him. He had a bunch of cats, and the first one he ever had was even named Elvis! Now, that’s a little strange, ain’t it? The man who didn’t quite get along with the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll had a cat named after him. Go figure!
So, in the end, what can we learn from Elvis and John Lennon? Well, I guess it shows that even the biggest stars don’t always get along. Sometimes you build up an image of someone in your head, and when you finally meet ’em, it don’t quite match. But that don’t mean they didn’t leave their mark on the world. Their music still lives on, even if they didn’t quite see eye to eye. And that’s somethin’ worth rememberin’.
Now, y’all may wonder what it woulda been like if they’d been friends. Maybe the world woulda been a little different. But that’s a question we’ll never know the answer to. What we do know is that Elvis and John Lennon both made their mark, and they still got folks talkin’ ‘bout ‘em today.
