Alright, listen up, y’all. Let’s talk about this “Expendables” movie thing, ya know, the one them youngsters are always yappin’ about. I ain’t no fancy movie critic or nothin’, but I can tell ya what I saw, and it was a whole lotta boom-boom and bang-bang, that’s for sure.

First off, they got all these tough-lookin’ fellas, muscles everywhere you look. Like them fellas you see liftin’ heavy stuff down at the construction site, only older and with more guns. Sylvester Stallone, yeah, that Rambo fella, he’s in it. And that bald fella from them “Transporter” movies, Jason Statham, he’s kickin’ and punchin’ too. They’re like a bunch of old dogs, still got some bite left in ’em, you know?
The story? Well, it’s somethin’ about savin’ the world or stoppin’ some bad guys, same old same old. Don’t rightly remember all the details, too much explodin’ goin’ on to keep track. But it’s got them fellas shootin’ guns, blowin’ stuff up, and fightin’ with knives. Lots of fightin’. Reminds me of them bar brawls back in the day, only with bigger weapons.
- Lots of action
- Big muscles everywhere
- Things go boom a lot
Now, I ain’t gonna lie, some of it’s kinda silly. Like, these fellas are supposed to be old, but they’re runnin’ and jumpin’ like they’re twenty again. And the bad guys, they’re always missin’ when they shoot, like they ain’t never held a gun before. But hey, it’s a movie, right? It ain’t supposed to be real life. It’s supposed to be fun, and this “Expendables” thing, it’s got plenty of fun, if you like that kinda thing.
I watched it on that thingamajig, the, uh, “streamin’” service, I think my grandson calls it. He set it up for me. Said I could watch all sorts of movies on it, even them “Bollywood” ones with all the singin’ and dancin’. But I like the action ones better. Less singin’, more explodin’. That’s my kinda movie.
They got this new one out too, “Expendables 4” they call it. Don’t know if I’ll watch it though. Seems like they just keep makin’ the same movie over and over again. But then again, sometimes you just wanna see things blow up, ya know? It’s like watchin’ fireworks on the Fourth of July, only with more guns and less hot dogs.
Some folks say these movies ain’t no good, that they’re just mindless violence. Maybe they’re right. But sometimes, after a long day of workin’ in the garden or cleanin’ the house, you just wanna turn off your brain and watch somethin’ loud and exciting. And these “Expendables” movies, they sure are loud and exciting. They ain’t gonna win no Oscars, but they’ll keep you entertained for a couple of hours, that’s for sure.

And you can watch it in all sorts of ways, seems like. My grandson says you can download it, or watch it on your phone, or even on that fancy “Apple TV” thing. Me, I just watch it on the big TV in the livin’ room. Big explosions need a big screen, I always say.
So, if you like action movies, and you don’t mind a little bit of silliness, then give this “Expendables” thing a try. It ain’t high art, but it’s a good time. Just don’t expect too much thinkin’, ya hear? Just sit back, relax, and enjoy the boom-boom.
Now, where’d I put that remote? I think I’ll watch it again. That part where the helicopter blows up, that’s my favorite.
They filmed it in all sorts of places too, Bulgaria, Hong Kong, New Orleans… Makes you wonder how much them plane tickets cost. Probably more than my whole house is worth. But hey, that’s moviemakin’ for ya. Big money, big explosions, big muscles. That’s the “Expendables” way.
And them fellas, they ain’t just actors, you know. Some of ’em know how to fight for real. Like that Dolph Lundgren fella. He looks like he could wrestle a bear and win. And Jet Li, that little fella, he’s fast as lightnin’. Wouldn’t wanna mess with him in a dark alley, that’s for sure.
So yeah, that’s my take on this “Expendables” movie. It ain’t perfect, but it’s good enough for a lazy afternoon. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make some supper. All this talk about explosions has made me hungry.
